Technical Information About This Website’s Accessibility

Seale and Sands Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible Content

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • There is no mechanism to skip repetitive content such as navigation (e.g. "skip to main content")

  • Some content may not adapt well when the screen orientation is changed

  • Not all text elements respond properly to user-defined text sizing, and some content may overlap

We are working to improve these issues over time.

Disproportionate burden

At present, we have assessed that fixing the following issues would be a disproportionate burden:

  • Implementing a skip-to-main-content feature

  • Retrofitting certain older elements of the site for dynamic resizing

This assessment will be reviewed annually.

Content that’s not within the scope of the regulations

PDFs and other documents

Some of our older PDFs and Word documents do not meet accessibility standards. These documents may not be fully accessible to screen reader software. This applies to documents published before 23 September 2018, which are exempt from the regulations unless they are essential to providing a service.

We aim to ensure that all new documents we publish are accessible.

Live video

We do not currently provide captions for live video streams. Live video is exempt from the accessibility regulations.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are working to improve the accessibility of this website on an ongoing basis, including:

  • Redesigning forms for better keyboard navigation

  • Reviewing use of PDFs and replacing essential ones with accessible HTML pages where possible

  • Reviewing accessibility as part of future website updates
